The Museum of the paper
The small building in Maina Inferiore - which housed the porter's lodge of the last active paper mill in the Valley until the beginning of the 1960s- has been identified as the ideal location to establisch a "Museum of the paper" , either for its good repair and position .
The Museum , encouraged by the Cartiera of Toscolano and sustained by the local governament together with the Province of Brescia , represents the most immediate expression of a wider project to regenerate and revivethe whole valley of the paper mills ; its historical and environmental heritage should remain in the memory of Lake Garda Riviera communities and should become a reason of interest and knowledgend for outside visitors.
So far , the restoration of the small building with its sourrounding plot - meant to involve the whole paper mill complex in the long term - has permited the realization of 4-room-exhibition gathering literature , photographs , finds and reconstructions that illustrate the paper-making process , examples and tools of watermark art .
